The Savegames

The Might and Magic VIII Savegames

I am not accustomed to put my savegames on my pages, but in this case if I have an excellent reason. Indeed in Might and Magic VIII it is not possible of creates a character of the Dragon class as well as to start your own preferred team from scratch.

Many people have the secret hope, one day, of being able to do it. Well, here I put at your disposal two very beautiful savegames with as basic character (you) a Dragon and savegames with all the remaining characters at Level 1 as you started them yourself!

Dragons

Morcarack's savegame   The first savegame is a Red Dragon. He is called Morcarack in homage to the Emerald Isle's Red Dragon in Might and Magic VII. File size: 217Kb.
Wromthrax's savegame   The second savegame is a Green Dragon. His name is Wromthrax in homage to the Tatalia's Blue Dragon in Might and Magic VII. File size: 218Kb.

The two Dragons start with the same characteristics and skills. Only their portraits changes just as their voices do.

All Level 1

Due to the excellent idea of Klaravoyia (Community member) we offer you now a complete set of savegames with all characters starting out as Level 1.

Here you will find a starting game with each class available in the game (including the Dragon) as the lead character. All the remaining characters (35 known NPC) are waiting for you in the Adventure's Inn and they too are at level 1!

As bonus you will find 14 brand new NPC in the Adventure's Inn, bringing the total of hirelings to 49! Yes, for each class up to 6 characters are for hire.

Dragon Level 1 savegame   Craggen is a Dragon that waits to fly around in Jadame. File size: 206Kb.
Dark Elf Level 1 savegame   The Dark Elf Ellesime is ready to conquer new customer in Jadame. File size: 206Kb.
Knight Level 1 savegame   Viain is a Knight, she is only willing to swing her sword in your name. File size: 206Kb.
Minotaur Level 1 savegame   The mighty Minotaur Mandel will have a red axe soon. File size: 206Kb.
Cleirc Level 1 savegame   As all Clerics, Anemon has full devotion to the path of Light, this will force her to help to save Jadame. File size: 206Kb.
Necromancer Level 1 savegame   The bloodlust of Edwin the Necromancer is so great that he can't wait to take the road. File size: 206Kb.
Toll Level 1 savegame   The basic Troll instinct of Lenik forces him to hunt down the foe of Jadame. File size: 206Kb.
Vampire Level 1 savegame   The thirst for blood pushes Dalle the Vampire to kill some monster soon. File size: 206Kb.

The constraints put on you is that:

  • Characters has no equipment (you need to buy it).
  • All the magical classes have the 2 first spells of the magic they know learned.
  • The attributes setting are set according to the class best settings (see MM8 FAQ for the class setup).
  • All the characters of the same class have the same setting except for the necromancers that have different combination of magic.

In the future, I can adjust this parameters on request. But for now you have to stick with my point of view.

Peasant Power

If you think you can do it, here an event more extreme for of playing the game. A whole set of peasants that will help you to save the world. All the characters start at level 0 (Peasants), they didn't even become a hero (Level 1). Like for the previous section all the 49 NPC of the Adventure's Inn starts at level 0.

Pick up the class you want to start with:

Dragon Level 0 savegame   Clawgrabber is a Hatchling that waits to learn to fly around in Jadame. File size: 205Kb.
Dark Elf Level 0 savegame   The Dark Elf Jaheira is ready to learn about the world of Jadame. File size: 205Kb.
Knight Level 0 savegame   Keldron is a Squire, he is only willing to know how to swing a sword. File size: 205Kb.
Minotaur Level 0 savegame   The Minotaur Clovis wants to know if he can hold a wood axe. File size: 205Kb.
Cleirc Level 0 savegame   As many, Nolane has only one wish, follow the order of Light. File size: 205Kb.
Necromancer Level 0 savegame   Even as a peasant, Mandrax dreams of the dark art of necromancy. File size: 205Kb.
Toll Level 0 savegame   The basic Troll instinct of Tazzar pushes him out of his village. File size: 205Kb.
Vampire Level 0 savegame   Melisa Blues is a fresh promoted vampire that just realise what she became! File size: 205Kb.

The constraints put on you is that:

  • Characters has no equipment (you need to buy it).
  • They know no skills.
  • The attributes setting are set according to the base class. See manual for base definitions.
  • You start without gold and food.

Good luck with them and bring them to maturity :).

Installation

When you have downloaded one or several of the savegames files you are requested to install them. First unzip the files in a temp directory, then copy the save0xx.dod files into the "my MM8 game dir"\Saves. Start the game and load the game of your choice.

If you have a like name in your saves folder it will be overwritten, so save or backup your files before installation.

Warnings

Overdune Snapfinger can be hired in the Adventure's Inn. If you take him in your team take care to do the witness quest and not directly claim the reward. If you use him you can in fact skip the witness quest when speaking to Bastian Loudrin.

All the NPC can be hired from the start. Even if you find them in there homes and they don't want to follow you. It's not a big problem, juste ignore them. Also if you hire them from their home they will join your team or "return" to the Adventure's Inn and disappear from their home. It's a small glitch in this type of games, but it doesn't seem to influence on the game.

Disclaimer

The savegames has been tested and don't seem to make any problem with the game. But I am not responsible for any damage due to the downloading, or use of any of these files. To the best of my knowledge, these files are all virus free at the time of upload. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Enjoy them! Good play...

The Fonts

To design the titles images, I made use of two font types. I puts them gracefully to your personal use, make good use of them. All the help PDF files uses the font file Engravers' Old English, if you install it on your computer you will have the layout as I originally wished them.
