Description
Rising up from the unstoppable Sea of Mist -- a magical void carrying armies
of bloodthirsty undead to every land it touches -- a champion fights his way
toward destiny.
Trained since infancy in the arts of war, magic, and the secret sects of the
rouge, Praz is unwilling to accept a single skill in the magical towers of
The Order. Long denied the truth about his unknown past, he seethes with
anger, rejecting convention as he leans toward darkness. But the foul
slaying of his life-long mentor and the abduction of his only love have
drawn Praz out beyond the citadel's walls for the first time in his life to
undertake an epic rescue. Traveling through a world distorted by the Sea of
Mist and hounded by a mysterious clark lord, Praz slowly begins to unravel
his past. Along the way he's joined by warriors from multiple dimensions,
battles demonic brothers, and confronts the most terrible foes of all: two
lowly servants who've somehow stumbled upon the power of gods.

This book has a nice story with an interesting development.
The main character of course
is a super hero without knowing it. The whole story turns around him and nothing else.
The book is very short and ends with living use hungry for the next one. The end gives the
impression it was quickly finished. Globally you can see this book as a good introduction
of the main character for the real story that will follow. To be continued...

Description
Playing 3DO's Might and Magic VI is like taking a walk down memory lane.
This party-based, classic-style fantasy role-playing game is a wonderful new
take on a time-tested gameplay formula. In order to make your way through
the rough and tumble world of Enroth, however, you're going to need some
help--and Prima's guide to the game is the perfect resource for any would-be
adventurer.
The book is chock full of information and statistics on all of the game's
monsters, weapons, and magic spells. Ever wonder how many hit points that
blasted Longfang Witherhide actually has? You can find out in this book.
You'll also find out where you can learn the many basic skills available in
the game--and where you can become an expert or master in each. You may need
this kind of help when you try to track down the elusive Plate Armor Master.
Maps for each region and dungeon are detailed and should prove extremely
helpful. The book also thoroughly describes each quest--from the basic
promotion quests to those that are essential to the story line. Other useful
information, such as the all-important stable and ship schedules, are neatly
organized in a series of tables. Whatever you need to know about your
travels through Enroth you can find in this book. Don't leave New Sorpigal
without it.

Good: Nice (but a bit brief) background info on the M&M
and HoMM series. Full monster statistics. Detailed item descriptions
(armor, weapons, etc). Explanation of bonuses for items. Detailed dungeon maps. Good walkthrus for
the promotion and main quests. Detailed list of NPCs that offer benefits.
Bad: Travel schedule difficult to decipher (uses map grid instead of locations). Location of
Expert and Master trainers also using grid system. Minor quests not completely covered. Land maps
of marginal use. Alchemy section difficult to follow.
Ugly: Party creation portion useless (no breakpoints, reiteration from manual for class
pros and cons), and no explanation for secondary skills that can be chosen at party creation.
Weapon, armor, and spell skill information also reiterated from manual. No explanation for using
the mouse or the keyboard control keys (a massive oversight).
[Aceshigh]
On a scale of 1 to 10 in terms of usefulness: 8
Nice and only a small number of errors (mostly on the items, no errors on quests
or maps that I remember).
[vmxa]
The guide gives some background on previous MM. Character
class is just an overview. It has details of monsters and spells. It has references for
the shops, trainers and the like. It do not show the barrels nor the deck of fate cards.
It has a break down on NPCs. Shops, store, ships and travel as well as training and
to what level and where they are located. One page has a list of the cities that can
train for a given skill and level. Quest chapter had them by essential, importand and then minor.
The minor quest of the book of liches was not documented. It had very few mistakes.

Good: Nice descriptions of general gameplay and skill selections and a few
technical overviews of how Resistance works, the attribute breakpoint table,
a race table explaining which attributes get bonuses or penalties, a brief
explanation of how "to hit" works (technical). Each map area is covered
well, with explanations of quests available in each location (and
miscellaneous factors like monsters in an area, treasure level, chest
difficulty, etc). Detailed monster, treasure, NPC, and alchemy mixing
information.
Bad: A walkthru of main story line quests, but no promotion quest walkthrus
like in the MM6 guide (which means repeated page-flipping
to find quests and promotions). No Arcomage strategy assistance.
Ugly: Some "desirable" skills are optional (Alchemy and ID Item). Party
creation section useless. Most disorganized of the MM6
thru MM8 Prima guides. No easy way to find skill trainers
(yet more page-flipping).
[Aceshigh]
On a scale of 1 to 10 in terms of usefulness: 6.5
Some errors and the info was all scattered. Poor organization!
[vmxa]
In this guide it gives a grid of what skills can be gotten and at what character
level (promotion). It shows if they can be expert or master or GM.
Several mistakes in the travel schedule. Poor organization!

Good: Easy reference for finding skill teachers. Other useful reference
charts for character skill capabilities. Very good organization for the
quests and promotions (including the minor quests). Character creation tips
useful to some extent(not perfect, but quite an improvement vs. the
MM6 and MM7 guides). Each
area covered in detail (including dungeons) with monster
info, treasure info, and other data. Good sections with information
detailing monsters, treasure items, alchemy.
Bad: Spell info repeated from manual. No Arcomage playing discussion.
Some maps in guide difficult to use.
Ugly: Starting skill selection section (character creation) useless.
[Aceshigh]
On a scale of 1 to 10 in terms of usefulness: 8
Nice info... very few errors (only on some items and not on the important
stuff... maps and quests).
[vmxa]
In this guide it gives a grid of what skills can be gotten and at what character
level (promotion). It shows if they can be expert or master or GM.
Its organized by city. One page has a list of the cities that can train for a given skill and
level (very handy). Some errors in the quests but well organized.

Comments
[Ice3]
For once the strategy guide for Might and Magic is worth
it's name. This time you have really a nice walkthrough with commented maps and details.
There are some minor errors but most of it is listed. The monster and item section is very
complete and well made. The only weak point is probably as always the party creation and
character development, but this time the authors did a much better job. All in one this
guide is a good one but it isn't free.
